Riccardo Cotarella
An internationally renowned Italian entrepreneur and oenologist, Cotarella is the president of Riccardo Cotarella S.r.l., a viticultural and oenological consulting company.
Cotarella has forged a career as the most important consulting oenologist and winemaker in Italy, creating acclaimed and award-winning wines across the country and becoming both the President of the Italian Oenologists Association and also the co- President of the international Association of winemakers.
Riccardo Cotarella’s connection with wine has deep roots. In the sixties, the Cotarella family founded their first winery in the little town of Monterubiaglio in Umbria. Since then, the Cotarellas have expanded and grown their enterprise across multiple wine-growing regions of Italy owning estates and producing wine across Latium, Umbria and Tuscany.
Cotarella became well known for the development of his Merlot-based wines beginning with Montiano, which has become one of the most sought after expressions of the Merlot grape in Italy. Cotarella’s most recent acquisitions include Le Macioche, a historic estate producing Brunello di Montalcino in Tuscany.
